Hospitality. Welcoming others into our home is an act of kindness, it brings us together as a community, it connects us. When we open our doors to others we are blessed and those that enter are blessed. When we share a meal and conversation we connect and are able to better see and hear and understand.

When we invite people in we have so many opportunities to serve. We can serve through a cozy, comfy, peaceful home. We can serve through the food that we share, a favorite dessert, a yummy homemade treat. We can serve through a good laugh or a good cry, connecting through a fun game or activity, or sharing our stories. We can find ways to serve and connect that fit our personality and our style.

To have a home and to share it with others is such a blessing. Hospitality is something worth striving for. It connects us to others and brings us so much joy.

Tassels and pom poms, a cozy combination!! I love adding all the cozy decor to my Christmas decorating. Adding a few extra pom-poms and tassels to my stockings is an easy way to make space extra cozy. Also I love adding wire string lights and sprigs of greenery from my yard to any space. It instantly looks more festive!

My Christmas decorating theme for this year is rustic red and white. I can’t wait to continue with this color scheme that I started last year. I’m just loving it so much! I was thinking of going with more pinks and peachy pinks this year, but I just kept coming back to loving this simple, traditional color combination. I picked up a few things from Hobby lobby the other day that I’ll share in stories later today.

My Instagram has been down for the last 24 hours, so I will try to get on here and share as much as I can today. I wasn’t able to share all in stories yesterday. Right now I’m trying to share through my browser, which is not ideal if you’ve ever done Instagram this way. Hope you all are having a fabulous day!

Hospitality. Our theme for November. I can’t wait to talk about this theme all month long. I wanted to start by chatting about three ways that you can embrace hospitality in your home.

First of all we want to make hospitality a part of our life. We have to have a plan, whether that’s weekly or monthly, we want to have a practice of inviting people into our home. Keep it simple, set a date, and invite friends or family into our home.

Second, we need to embrace imperfection. If we are worried about how clean our homes are or if they are perfectly decorated, it will be a lot harder to invite someone into our home.

Embrace your home right now. Realize how blessed you are to have the space that you have. And invite others in. When others do come in, try not to apologize for your home, just focus on your time with them.

And third, we want to curate a simple hospitality formulas. We can come up with simple ideas that can be repeated over and over and over again when we have guests come into our home. Maybe that’s having two or three meal ideas that we can choose from, meals that we know will work and are easy to prepare. Maybe that’s a signature dessert. It could be a couple games that work well with groups of people. If you recognize problem areas or stumbling blocks that stop you from inviting people over, figure out a simple solution to make it work.

As we move forward in our quest for hospitality, always remember why we went to invite others in. We want to connect with those around us and we want to provide cozy and comfortable places for people to gather. Our homes are sanctuary for our families during the storms of life and they can also be sanctuary for others.

We had a fun weekend! We celebrated Halloween by heading to the Apple Farm, picking up some pumpkins to carve, doing a fun scavenger hunt, eating chili and caramel corn, and watching a spooky movie together. My oldest had to work all day, but he was able to have a couple friends over that evening for a little Halloween get together. It was a fun day!

Tomorrow I’ll be introducing the new theme for the month of November. I can’t wait to share! Today I’m putting away all of my Halloween decor and bringing out a little bit of Thanksgiving decor. I have few pilgrims and a turkey, not much, but it’s festive! My husband is very excited for me to take down the witches hats. There at the perfect height where they bumped the top of his head every time he walks into the kitchen. They have not been his favorite!😆

I have a couple of fun collabs I’ll be doing this week, can’t wait to share! Also a simple diy I’ll be sharing later this week. Hope this first week of November finds you happy and healthy!

Sharing this fun fall tiered tray today! I have been wanting a tiered tray for years, and finally bought one from Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago. I’m excited to use this for styling all the tiered decor. Plus it’s super functional for entertaining, and I’m sure I’ll use it a lot in that way.

For this fall styled tier, I gathered together some fall favorites! This is all just decor I had around the house. The black houses tie in with my Halloween decor, those fun pears are ones I thrifted last year, those floral rosettes were ones I used in a floral arrangement years ago, that I ended up taking apart, but I kept the roses. So many other fun fall items tucked in to this tiered tray.

If you haven’t decorated with a tiered tray, I challenge you to try it! I did a tiered tray this last Christmas, and since I didn’t have one, I stacked cake plates on top of each other. It worked out great, and was so fun to style. I think gathering smaller items and arranging them on these tiers is such an easy and fun way to add impact to a space!
