The dining room was so fun to put back together and it is so lovely to again have a place to gather together to share our meals. During the remodel we spruced up the space with new hardwood floors, shiplap on the walls, and added my absolute favorited wood beaded chandelier from Potter Barn. I have been wanting this chandelier for years since we lived in our Fern Street home, and I’m so excited to have two of them in this home, one in the dining room and one in the entry way. They do not disappoint and add such style, warmth, and whimsy to the space.
The dining room side table hutch I purchased this last November during World Market’s furniture sale. I put it together and took a few days to decorate it. I’m using it as a hutch of sorts (though I know it is not a hutch) and hoping to make it pretty and functional.
I decorated the side table the way I decorate most things in my home. I gathered all the pretty things that I might want to add to the hutch. I knew I wanted to keep it neutral so I collected all of our clear vases, clear glass pitchers, pretty plates, some baskets, my white cake stand, my white platters, and various serving trays. These were just pretty dishes I have collected over the years. I added some faux artichokes, a pretty white pear, a white watering can and teapot, and a few other decorative items. It all came together nicely and I was pleased with my little side table hutch.
When the dining table and chairs were finally finished, you can read more about how I painted these here, we moved them into the space. I love the distressed white painted table and chairs, such a differences from the faded and damaged dark dining room set that it was before it was painted. The geometric rug was another USA rug purchase. Emily from Jones Design Company recommended it. I love it because it is super thin, easy to sweep or vacuum, and the design is so pretty. I added the table runner from the Hearth and Hand collection and a pretty centerpiece with some bright flowers and our dining room was finally complete. We do still need to order bamboo blinds in this room and throughout the rest of our home and we will hopefully do that soon.
We love this space. The side table hutch has functioned well. I pull from it often and it has been easy to access and know where all my favorite serving dishes are located. Gathering for meals in this spot or spreading out a project on the table are what dining rooms are meant for and we have loved having one that is pretty, functional, and full of our favorite finds and treasures.
