After I put the living room together I moved onto the dining room. I knew I wanted to paint the dining room table and chairs a distressed white. I did a little research and decided to use chalk paint. I purchased mine at Home Depot and opted to use the Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint in Linen White. I loved this paint. It was easy to apply, I just used a brush, and the finish was a silky, soft matte. It did have some streaks in it, but they were soft and subtle, and I was going for a distressed look so it didn’t bother me.
I did two coats of the paint on everything, except for the table top, where I did three coats. When it was completely dry I distressed it with a pretty powerful sander so it was easy to do. It took me a little over a week to complete the table and chairs. When I finished I set it up in our dining room and fell in love. I love the distressed white table and it looks so good in the space. So now I want to paint everything. Paint is such an inexpensive way to make a huge difference in a space. Now onto finishing this space.
