It has been fun to take photos of what is going on in our kitchen and notice any weekly kitchen themes. This week Karter was definitely my little helper. We made fry bread for our navajo tacos. It was the first time I have made fry bread form scratch and it was super easy and fun. I also have been taking turns with each of my kiddos and letting them stay up an extra 15 minutes to spend some time with me doing whatever they would like to do. This week Karter wanted to make a chocolate cake. We whipped it up and even had time to read a story before he went off to bed. I’m reminded of how much I love working in the kitchen with my kids. It is so fun, especially as they get older, and you realize how much help they really can be. We talk and chat and connect while we measure, stir, and mix.
I have been working on plans for this coming summer, when all my kids will be home, and am sharing a series on steps to prepare for our summer here. I most definitely will be planning on doing some extra food prep, baking, chopping, and cooking with the kids this summer. It is so good to be reminded, through photos and words, of the value of food, work, and the connection it can bring.
Oh I remember baking with my daughter when she was that age too. Happy days.
Have fun.

It is so much fun to invite them into the kitchen. They absolutely love it! Thanks for stopping by.
nice little helper you got there 🙂 Thanks for sharing your pictures with us
Having helpers in the kitchen makes meal prep so enjoyable. I love teaching wee ones to cook and learn a valuable life skill. Love the smile on your young man, just beautiful!
I love your enthusiastic little helper! Wonderful pictures!
Callie, I love your helper! And all those chopped vegetables… Navajo Tacos sound delicious! Thanks for sharing.
He is a great helper. Thanks for visiting!
I'm hoping to "teach" them more this summer. I have a 10 and 7 year old that I know will love to learn and then to help out by actually making some of you meals. Out kitchen post this summer should be very fun!
It is so fun to check through my photos and see all the "food" related pictures to share from the past week. Thanks for stopping by!
The tacos were delicious. I'm really enjoying the meals that have a lot of options to them (Navajo Tacos, Hawaiian Haystacks, etc.) The kids do well choosing what they would like to add to their meals and we get all these fun options. Thanks for visiting!
Pictures like these make me confident that I will like the part where little boy is growing up too… Lovely happy pictures!
Looks like a lovely week in the kitchen!
It's nice to have little helpers isn't it? I've always got at least a couple in my kitchen as well!
Love your helper!
Very cute! 🙂
Lovely–and thanks for the link to your summer planning post! It will be really helpful for me.
