Christmas was lovely. The days leading up were so very busy and full. The energy and motivation was in full swing before Christmas, soaking in as much of the season as we could, making sure all was ready. The days following have been full of family and activities. Lots of family activities, lots of quick meals, lots of fires, some knitting and reading and movie watching. Lots of time with cousins and with new toys.
I truly enjoyed the season. I felt I really struck the balance between doing and embracing, getting it done and feeling the true meaning of Christmas. I kept it simple. It made me want to simplify it even more this next year. Cut away the excess so I can embrace the most important and live it fully.
Last night I stayed up late and finished a puzzle, something we used to do growing up with my family. I realized this year that an 1000 piece puzzle may be too much for my kids (imagine that) but I enjoyed it on my own. Next year we may try one with less pieces so all may be involved.
I’m watching the last couple episodes of Downton Abbey and can’t wait for the new season this next month. A wonderful way to spend my wintery Sunday evenings. I love Anna and Mr. Bates. I’m interested to see how the next season plays out, especially with all the changes at the end of season 3.
2014 is right around the corner. I love the beginning of a new year. Full of hope, moments to be shared, goals to be set, surprises to be discovered. I can’t wait.
