We have started reading lessons with Isabelle this week. She has known her letters and their sounds for some time now. We have sounded out some simple words together. All of this has been done while we have read books together. Very simple and easy. No stress involved. She has loved it and I have loved it. Very different from the way I taught Jakob to read, but that can be saved for another post.
The other day she told me that she wanted to learn to read. I told her that I could give her reading lessons if she wanted them. She said she did.
We are going to use The Ordinary Parent’s Guide to Teaching Reading by Jessie Wise and Sara Buffington. I’m loving the short concise lessons and the bits of memorization and simple poems. I think it is just perfect for my little one to move forward and learn to read. I will let you know how it goes.
