12:00 am Up with Karter. Change Karter’s diaper and nursed him while I read The Work and The Glory II.
2:00 am Up with Karter. Gave him 4 ounces of formula and fell asleep in the rocking chair while I was feeding him.
4:00 am Karter is crying in bed.
4:30 am Karter is still crying. I went into his room and gave him a pacifier and walked him around the room until he went back to sleep.
5:00 am Karter is crying again.
5:30 am Steve gets up. Offers to get Karter but I tell him I’m trying to train him to sleep longer.
5:35 am Go in and get Karter. Nurse him for a couple minutes. He goes to sleep and I can’t wake him back up. Put in a load of laundry. Straighten the upstairs, putting away stuff from our trip to Utah.
6:00 am Steve leaves for work. Takes my van because he has to drive all the way out to Pacific City for a job for Bathfitter. Take bath. Get ready. Read Ensign while I eat breakfast.
6:45 am Karter wakes up. Nurse Karter.
7:00 am Jakob and Isabelle up. Get all the kids dressed and hair fixed.
7:45 am Breakfast for Jakob and Isabelle. Nurse Karter.
8:00 am Out the door to walk Jakob to school. Karter fell asleep in stroller.
8:50 am Arrive home. Isabelle watches Sesame Street and I quickly finish scrapbook page from yesterday, check email, make a phone call, and blog.
9:15 am Karter is crying. Straighten downstairs quickly. Nurse Karter. I clean up the kitchen. Isabelle finishes Sesame Street. She plays upstairs and draws on big paper on the easel. Karter is fussy. I give him 2 ounces of formula. Karter falls asleep.
10:45 am Read with Isabelle.
11:15 am Loaded Karter and Isabelle in our Joovey Stroller and walked to the bus stop.
11:30 am Jakob arrived home from the bus. Walked home quickly because Jakob had to use the bathroom. Started Macaroni and Cheese for the kid’s lunch and reheated Taco Soup for me. Nursed Karter. Finished making lunch. Ate lunch, gave Karter 2 ounces of a bottle. Talked with Jakob while I ate, he wanted to play the guessing game, one of his favorites. He wanted me to guess what had four wheels. He asked me if big spiders could eat people. I said there wasn’t a spider big enough to eat a person. He then asked me if they could eat a small part of us like our eyes, fingers, or toes. Lots of thinking going into these questions, though I admit they are gross!
12:30 pm Remembered I should be potty training Isabelle and put her on the toilet. Put Isabelle to bed without any fussing. Steve called, talked with him. Steve came home for a minute to switch cars. Took Karter upstairs, changed his poopy diaper, rocked him, and put him down in his crib when he started getting sleepy. Came downstairs and found Jakob organizing/playing with the kid dishes.
1:00 pm Started the old versions of The Absent Minded Professor for Jakob to watch. Ate protein bar and glass of milk while I read Ali Edwards blog.
1:30 pm Ran and got camera out of car. Snapped some pictures. Michelle Rex called asking me about freezer meals and about teaching a digital scrapbooking class.
2:00 pm Karter crying. I let him cry hoping he will go back to sleep. Go upstairs and read magazine on bed for a minute before I hear Isabelle awake in her room saying, “Poo-poo Mommy.” Take Isabelle to the bathroom to do her thing. We go downstairs to finish movie with Jakob, I nap on the couch for 20 minutes.
3:45 pm Upstairs to start dinner. Make myself and kids a protein shake. Clean kitchen while kids draw/color. Karter still sleeping.
4:30 pm Wake Karter up to feed. Nurse and bottle.
5:00 pm Kids play outside. I hold Karter and read blogs. He is fussy.
5:45 pm Talk with Steve. He will not be home for dinner. Feed the kids spaghetti and go upstairs to put Karter to bed.
6:00 pm Put kids in bath. Fold three loads of laundry while kids are in bath. Brush teeth. Clip fingernails and toenails. Say prayers. Read books, ABC Book and DW Needs Glasses.
7:15 pm Kids in bed. Isabelle cries. I take bath and put on pajamas.
7:45 pm Jakob is falling asleep in our bed. It is Karter’s first week in his crib and I’m hesitant to let him read books with the light on while Karter is sleeping. Jakob asks me to rub his back when I get out of the bath. We talk about school. He says he doesn’t like it when his teacher tells him to do things. I ask what kind of things he doesn’t like to do. He says he doesn’t like to write because he doesn’t know how to write. He says he can write jet, cat, and fat.
8:00 pm Finish dishes. Lay out towels to give Karter a bath. Work on notes for the day. Blog photos of trip to Wallowa Lake and Utah. Check email.
9:00 pm Woke Karter up. Gave him a bath. Fed him and dressed him while I watched Penelope.
10:45 pm Steve still not home. Called him. Said he was just finishing up and would be home soon. Went to bed.
11:15 pm Phone woke me out of a deep sleep. Steve quickly got off the phone when he realized I had been sleeping. In and out of sleep, heard Steve get home.
